Kirk has recently made a trip to Brazil where he played and studied with the Brazilian musicians of the Centro Musicale in Rio de Janeiro . Former jazz colleagues and friends from Asia also attended to make it a great reunion and musical happening in one of the hippest corners of the earth.

In March 2006 Kirk was Music director for a 7-night run of "Cabaret" in Parker Auditorium featuring a 13-piece orchestra and a stellar cast of dancers and actors that received rave reviews.

Previous Projects:

A return trip is planned to play in December 2004 with famed pianist Tamir Hendleman and Bassist Sherry Luchette. The trip will also include helping the eco-tourism group Conservation Fund in the preservation of the Jaguar cats of the Pantanal.

Kirk can be seen performing on occasion with the wonderful South American singer Jessica Vatour at Club Rio in Encino , CA .

April 22- All Saints Church in Beverly Hills with singer/ actress Andrea Birkman in an eclectic program.

July 8 th - With singer/composer Jean-Michel and Guavajava at La Ve Lee in Studio City

August 22- With the Brasil Brazil Show at Catalina Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd.

In August Kirk performed on a film score of Russell Howard III. The film will premier at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival Sept. 7-13

Future jazz projects include a concert at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art with the Kirk Johnson jazz quintet.
